Thanks William, that clears up a question I've had for awhile.

Black69, I think you have it backwards. The air cleaner base should be smooth on the bottom. It's the late production and post 1969 NOS bases that have the ridge. I think the coil bracket is unique, as it angles the coil more to clear the air cleaner.

The ZL2 was an available option on all Z/28 and SS around Jan 1, 1969.

There are probably more ZL2 hoods in Tennessee today, than were original equipment to the whole US back then.
