Is the Chevelle engine using the same cam, heads, intake, exhaust as the Camaro? If not then it needs to be tuned to the engine its bolted to..

I honestly don't know. Cam heads and intake are all different. I'm just trying to find the easy way out. I think I'm going to have to put the Camaro on the back burner while I learn how to do it, because my dad isn't all that good at tuning carbs (his words, not mine).

I should note we tried to tune the carb with my grandfather once, but it didn't work very well.

Post some data.

Degrees of initial timing at idle without vac adv hooked up?

total timing @ 3000 rpm without vac advance hooked up?

timing at idle with vac advance hooked up?

What pulgs? Plug gap? What distributor? Any ignition box?

I found an old distributor in the garage. It has an Accel cap, but apparently it's the original points distributor for the Camaro. Part Number HI HI2168 8b1 (or 3b1, or 3BL, or 8BL, I can't tell). Will this work on a small block. Pappaw said it was big block specific, but I don't know why it would be. He's got a 350 in his garage I plan on using in whatever car I get, and I'd really like to save 200 bucks by using this. (Y'know, so I can put said cash towards a tunnel ram for said 350. Appears to be it. Makes we wonder what it was doing on a 396.

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/msd-8910/overview/ Will this work with the Camaro's Accel distributor? I ask because it says it's for MSD Blaster ignition, which the car doesn't have.
