There should be some coverage in this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uSp3RzlrJHE </div></div> I was there too. Yep, cool car. |

Re: Need information & Picture: '69 Yenko Camaro
Cliff was the one I purchased my Yellow '69 Yenko Camaro from back in... 1998 or 1999. If I remember he had like 22 '69's, 7 in Yellow? Mine was nicknamed "hairy" due to the wild cam it had, and the 5:13's. Was a fun car, nice guy.

Re: Need information & Picture: '69 Yenko Camaro
When he first got into Yenkos, Cliff used to drag race, until he was told that it would be in the best interest of his family, various companies he owned and employees if he choose a less dangerous past time.
This Camaro was the one that he raced, but had been taken back to pretty much stock until SCR1, when he had it set up as seen in that picture. Cliff did not know it then, but setting in his showroom at this time was one of two drag cars once sponsored by Yenko, the Preston-Lawrence drag car, a DY Camaro.

Re: Need information & Picture: '69 Yenko Camaro
This 1969 Daytona Yellow Yenko was restored for Cliff Ernst by me, back in 1990. The inspiration to add some super stock features came about a few years later, prior to the first Supercar Reunion, that, Tom Clary organized. I was Cliff's restorer for a few years and a huge fan of these cars. Cliff and Bill Porterfield considered doing some match racing, prior to this car's receiving the Super Stock add-ons. In 1990 the car was restored, with this intention, and a warmed over 427 was assembled. Bill took the number 1 ZL-1 a little further, performance-wise, than anticipated, and match racing was deemed unrealistic. I suggested adding some eye appeal to Cliff's collection, somewhat paying tribute to Ed Hedrick's Daytona Yellow Super Stocker. Cliff did participate in some musclcar drags in the late 1980's with a Hugger Orange 1969 Yenko Camaro.

Re: Need information & Picture: '69 Yenko Camaro
I haven't been to the Super Chevy shows in a while, but the situation of my dad and I doing car work together is true, though not for Cliff. I worked for Cliff just about 10 years. I still fondly look back on those years. I have been away from his collection for about 14 years.
