Default Daytona Coupe #6 , #7 ?

This story has the smell of profit-generated Shelby fairytale all over it. Good 'Ol Shel

Shelby left those Daytona Coupes in Europe with instructions to "push them into the sea". He didn't give a F- about them. The thoughtfulness of Alan Mann, Shelby's British racing partner saved those cars.

I am guessing this thing was built in the '90s?

I don’t know when it was built but yes, CSX 2469 is a replica built by Mike McCluskey, who builds probably the most authentic replicas of the original Coupes you can get. I believe Carroll sold his original coupe in 2000 (he owned CSX2300 which he bought back in the late 70s). I would guess CSX2469 was built in the ‘90s like you said, and they may have used CSX2300 as the reference.

Turns out the auction listing includes the restoration paperwork which is pretty fun. Looks like the process started in 1981, Coupe rebody in 1992, and first competition in historic racing in 1999: https://worldwideauctioneers.com/doc...0paperwork.pdf

“ Thirty years after the first cars were completed, Shelby found himself facing a new dilemma regarding the Daytona Coupe. He had a desire to venture into vintage racing but now that the original cars were selling in the millions of dollars there was no way that those cars could be raced. Leave it to Shelby to find a loophole. He reasoned that if an original roadster chassis could be found it could be rebodied as a Daytona Coupe and he knew just the person to do it. Mike McCluskey had restored three of the original cars for their owners and knew the car inside and out. Shelby found out that he had also built Daytona Coupe bodies on five other original Cobra chassis. By 1997 the sixth roadster chassis CSX2469 was being rebodied and sitting in the McCluskey shop. Shelby quickly located the owner, sweet talked him into a deal that would give Shelby the nearly completed coupe and would also give John Andrews one of twelve new soon to be completed Daytona Coupes that he had authorized McCluskey to build. The new car would be given CSX2604 as a chassis number and would be the first of his continuation series. Andrews agreed and Shelby was on his way to vintage racing.”
