Those old Ram Air motors can work pretty well. I had a '68 Ram Air automatic Firebird that was balanced and blueprinted and with the Royal Bobcat kit and headers. I ran a '68 L78 Chevelle and beat it by about a car length. Years later I found out that it wasn't an L78 at all but rather the guy had installed a 427. Made me smile. I like my Chevies but there are some other very nice street engines out there.

There's a difference between a 400 HO and the Ram Air engine - they are two different motors. The only thing they shared was their hp rating.

I understand about the engine ratings being the same on paper...........As far as I knew--it was a 400HO with a longer duration cam and valve train hardware , which made it a "Ram Air" engine
I did know my friends brother was constantly on the phone with factory reps.back then--he would always say the engine was being factory blueprinted. Don't know if that was actually the case,?? but the the car did sound nice and did run strong...Another buddy of mine had a 400HO with 391 gears/4speed and you could hear the difference in the engine lope...That Ram Air/433 was a real nice package...

Photos and a very classy ride..Your car brought back a lot a good memories
