Clint Eastwood was not Don Siegel’s first choice for the role of Harry Callahan in the 1971 blockbuster “Dirty Harry.” The role was offered to the likes of Frank Sinatra and John Wayne before Eastwood won the part.

Frank Sinatra I understand. He did have some credentials as Tony Rome (1967) and the follow up movie Lady In Cement (1968). John Wayne? Remember his movie McQ (1974)
