Default 1970 Chevrolet El Camino SS396 57k Actual Miles!

1970 El Camino SS 396 57k original mile(born with drivetrain)

All stock blue exterior/blue interior/white hat and stripes(Stripes not original, had them added when exterior respray was done simply because I liked the look and knowing that all I had to do was repaint the hood to put it back in original form).

Had original paint when I bought that was getting weak so I had the Award Winning Thorntons(Of Oldsmobile Restoration Fame) respray the exterior only. The jambs and inside the bed were still so nice that I did not want to touch them.

Original, born with 402/350HP a/c, p/w, c/c, tilt, guage, washer indicator car with TH400 trans and 12 bolt. I bought this car from the original owners of the car and it was garage kept since new(and still is) and is a nearly all original car with exception of the outer respray, battery, ignition wires, cap, rotor, exhaust and maybe a few other minor odds and ends.

Yes, I do have the protect-o-plate and BuildSheet for it.

With the exception of some detailing work, a possible carb rebuild(I would of course recommend Eric at Vintage Musclecar Parts do it), an a/c compressor clutch(not compressor), a seam on the drivers seat starting to split where it is stitched from age(yes, the interior is all original)and the tires getting dry rotted from age that's all I know might need to be done.

A very honest and exceptionally straight forward car that is a very rare find in an El Camino!

I have been collecting cars for over 30 years and have yet to find another 1970 SS 396 El Camino that even begins to compare to this one as far as originality, documentation and overall unrestored condition.

This car has been garage kept since new and while I feel a car of this quality is worth more, I am reluctantly offering it at $50k only due to the state of the current economy.

Please feel free to call me to discuss this wonderful car at (804) Four 2 Six Three 6 Hundred.

Thank you for taking the time to view my ad and to Yenko.net for the ad space!

Thanks for the compliment!

I know the term "survivor" gets thrown around quite often and many use that term when it really is not applicable. I feel the car is a survivor as you state, but did not want to call it that and have the skies part and lightning come down from the heavens and strike me dead for doing it in the ad! LOL!! J/K guys! I know that term rubs some guys the wrong way and at times on some vehicles, it even rubs me the wrong way too.

Yes, you are correct. If memory serves me correctly, I have posted it twice on the Chevelles.com website(and possibly even tried eBay) over the last several years just to put it out there and see what kind of attention the car garnered without really caring if the car sold and definitely not pushing it either. I am not, even now overly motivated(due to the level of quality and originality of this car), however now more motivated than in the past to find a new caretaker for the car. If the "right" person comes along, great. If not, that's ok too, but I am certainly being very much more proactive with the car now, than I have ever been in the past and getting ready to downsize the herd considerably. Some of the others that will be posted for sale(with emphasis on the SOLD part)soon are as follows:

1957 Sedan Delivery Pro Street

1969 Camaro SS
1970 Camaro SS/RS
1972 Camaro Z/28
1972 Camaro Pro Street

1967 Chevelle SS
1971 Chevele Malibu

1970 El Camino SS 396(a different one)
1979 El Camino Pro Street

1970 Monte Carlo
1971 Monte Carlo
1972 Monte Carlo
1988 Monte Carlo SS

1967 Nova SS
1972 Nova SS

1986 GN Driver
1987 GN Drag car
1987 GN Street Car
1987 Turbo T Driver

The paint was done back when I first bought the car. 10-12 years ago if memory serves correctly. I would have to check the title to be sure. Please feel free to let me know what else I can do to help. Have a great day!

I’ve owned two Corvettes that have received the Survivor award at Bloomington with complete repaints. One was a ’67 coupe and one was a ’69 coupe. Both received Bloomington Survivor awards due to passing three of the four categories. I don’t know this El Camino or the seller, but a Corvette can Survivor with a repaint and I’m sure the new Survivor award follows the same guidelines. I believe that a car can still be called a Survivor with a repaint.
