I don't understand why a salesman would go through all the crap when all he had to do was check the right boxes and wallah get the car right from the factory.

Nothing about this car makes sense. The story is completely made up. The major issue is that this is a Doraville car. Baldwin got cars from Tarrytown, St. Therese, and Wilmington. There is nothing unique enough about this car to justify the order being fulfilled by an assembly plant 900 miles away. It's like shipping a Van Nuys Camaro to Vermont.
