Default Need help with Mustang fastback!

Picked up a '67 Mustang fastback from someone who was going to fix it up for years - but decided to give it up.
Was a California car but has been sitting outside locally for the last few years. The car was repainted shortly
before it was put aside. Body is in real good shape but front drivers side floorpan has some rust through from
sitting with the window partially open. The bottom front tip of the pass. side door is the only panel with any
rust. It comes with a '91 5.0 + C4 trans and boxes of new parts. The front bumper is gone and the buckets and
fold down top of the rear seat were lost to a fire last summer.
It is supposed to be a GTA but I don't know how to authenticate that as being true or false - any idea's?
I'm going to offer it a friend, but if he doesn't want it I'll probably just flip it - any ideas to it worth? I don't think
I'm ready to tackle a Ford project right now.
Thanks for any assistance you could offer!

Look for disc brakes, 9" rear, serial number should have S in it for GT 390.

I have a 67 fastback GT 289 car as well. Look for engine code "A" or "K" in the vin for GT 289.

Fender trim tag located on d/s inner fender top, where fender bolts, is where the tag will be.

Glenn, looks like a great project that won't kill you to complete or fix! I'm not a F@%# man, but I would do a Fastback up in that condition.

Ditto--wish I had the room---I'd bring it back to Shelby specs...

Finding out if its a GT or GTA (automatic) is essential-and easy. Go here:

http://www.martiauto.com/

and order the production report for the car. $17 basic will tell you what you need to know, others look prettier and will give statistics that will get you all jazzed up about its rarity.

It could be a GT/GTA with the A-code 289. They had to have 4bbl V8's, so the fifth digit would have to be A (289/225hp), K (289/271hp), or S (390/320hp). Advertise it well on the web, lots of overseas interest in these cars. My friend just sent a '67 GTA S-code ragtop to Finland a couple weeks ago.

I'd be interested too if you weren't on the other side of the damn country.....

Tell the buyer to build a Bullitt out of the '67.
