Default Production quality chrome plating

I had been looking for someone to do PRODUCTION QUALITY CHROME PLATING.
VS
ENTIRELY TOO PERFECT SHOW CHROME

Nickel Chrome - sharp edges without highly polished base stampings -
VS
Copper Nickel Chrome with highly polished pure gloss show finish.

Found a place that does work for NCRS restorers and passes NCRS judging, he will leave shadows etc if you want just like original.

R&D Finishing
Elizabethton TN

Turn around was approx 4 weeks from dropping at Charlotte Auto Fair
2 bumperettes 1 full bumper and a bayonette shifter handle $800.

I am extremely pleased with the service, turn around and how the parts look.

Thanks for the info James.
Curious (as I'm not US-based), how does that cost compare with other more frequently-used chrome platers?

Price is the same... just finding someone willing to do it like it was from the factory is difficult, everyone wants to make it SOOO perfect because most customers are not going to be satisfied with production quality chrome.
R&D actually electrically strips the old plating, cleans the stamping, nickel plates it, adds tooling marks and sanding scratches (noted in the paperwork) and does not highly polish the nickel - nickel plates again, then Chrome.
I was expecting a premium... it was the same as they charge for FLAWLESS show chrome.

I like the fact that the edges are crisp like original and not buffed to death rounding them.

I wonder if they have any association with Tri City Plating, which is in the same small town.

I kind of wondered the same thing... who knows one may have spawned the other as well.

He made sure THAT I KNEW what I was asking HIM TO PROVIDE IN RETURN before he agreed to do it, when I told him I was into survivors and had an unrestored Corvette he then said ok you know what you are getting... I told him if it had halos in recesses or visible grind or sand scratches of 100 grit I would not complain. I wanted what GM provided out the assembly plant door... in all honesty it is better than GM provided but MUCH MUCH closer to Production Chrome.

Curious to know how car judges view this quality of plating over show quality plating.
No point loss,or yes point loss?

Having bought a NOS front grille bezel for the 73 RS LT Z I am restoring it had light chrome in the deep corners and fine scratching, I did not want the NOS Chrome parts to be a drastic difference to the bumpers on the car, Plus my emblems and everything trim wise would be NOS then Show chrome bumpers would be out of place.
I have had a problem with the amount of polishing that the platers do it seems that the definition of the lines is lost and everything looks "soft"... or rounded...

ADDITIONALLY I WILL NOTE: The NCRS 70-72 Vette judging manual 5th edition states that there should be thin chrome on the bumperettes in the tight corners etc & on the front corvette bumpers held through the 2 holes which have halos around the holes from being held there during plating.
