The 300 Deluxe was canceled at the end of the 69 model year. BUT it was brought back mid way through the 70 model year by demand. It featured non hid away wipers, basic window trim, IIRC no drip well moldings, rubber floor mats with no carpet. It WAS the inspiration for the Heavy Chevy that was introduced in 71. I think they were produced at more plants than the Canada plant. I looked at one in Nashville a few years back but cant remember where it was built. Neat cars for sure...…

BTW: Rainer the offer still stands on your Ultimate 70 300 Deluxe, the Hugger Orange 400 4 speed car. I want it!

When I was a kid a guy in town had a light green 350 2 barrel 4 speed single exhaust 1970 300 Deluxe. Bench seat of course. We all laughed at that car but I'd sure love to own it now.

Regarding the original subject car: I would walk right past 100 LS6’s (& I’m a HUGE LS6 fan) to see this particular 300 in all it’s original glory.

The initial car this started with, and the people involved with it. FYI , the car is alive well,…and has been restored to its former glory. I passed on an opportunity to buy it back in 2006 , just as the restoration was going to be very expensive. Needed a ton of work as shown in the pics. Randy sold it to a guy in Ontario, who restored the car, and then about 2 years ago sold it to another friend of mine , a car guy in western Canada.
Car looks great , I have some pics , but I’m not sure the owner wants them out there.
I will contact him and see if he either wants to chime in and join the chat, or is ok with me posting a pic or two.
Anyhow , the car has been restored

In 1971, there was the Chevelle and upscale Chevelle Malibu, right? And the Heavy Chevy was based on the former and the SS on the latter. Doesn't have anything to do with the 300 Deluxe, I don't think?
