Default The Doolittle Raid...

I'm usually more punctual on historical posts...this one is a little late, but no less important. This past Monday April 18th, marked the 80th anniversary of the historic Doolittle Raid on Japan.

America was in desperate need of a boost in morale following Pearl Harbor and the countless other defeats across the Pacific. This daring raid involved launching B25 bombers off the deck of an aircraft carrier...a feat never before performed. While the damage to Tokyo wasn't great, the impact to America and the world was...this was just the boost that was needed.

Please remember these brave men and all the others who served to protect us so many years ago.

Lest we forget...

I had the honor of meeting Dick Cole on many occasions before he passed at 103 years old in 2019. What an awesome individual. A true hero.

I realize Doolittle was in his 40's but what was the average age of the other aircrews? I'm always amazed by how old they looked for kids just out of high school or in their first year or two of college.

That’s a great recap, many of those brave men survived and lived long lives.
