Default 1962 corvette SCCA big tank race car at Road America in 1960's

Trying to determine owner/driver of an unusual painted rare big tank 1962 Corvette that raced at Road America and Blackhawk in years 1962 to 1976

Details: the car was ordered as new car from Nikey Chevrolet as a race ready full all out SCCA race car
The last person to own the car in 1976 lived in Racine Wisc and then it was bought by Lou Grupe who sold it to someone in Texas . Lou does not remember who bought it from or sold it to

I have attached pictures. The car ran in B/P when it was bought in 1976

The orange paint is similar to paint treatment on the George Reed took his Ferrari Tour deFrance (see picture below) . He raced a 1960 white Corvette but with no orange paint

1960 "Race Rat" - Corvette Racing Historycorvette-racing.tripod.com › ...George Reed contacted Nickey and ordered this RPO race-optioned Corvette specifically for the upcoming 12 Hours of Sebring. The car arrived in the first week ...

ANY HELP appreciated . Also if you are aware of a discussion forum dealing with Road America that would be great

Thanks

If you haven't tried searching the racingsportscars.com site yet, click on the link below and look through the Entry Lists of races you think possible also cruise picture pages keeping an eye peeled for 61/62's w/ that unique roll bar.

Yenko/Gulf also used the orange paint treatment. I heard it was so they can tell the two Yenko/Gulf team cars apart when they came in the pits.

I believe the color of the stripe on the alloy 250 tdf 0893gt was red and applied at the factory. Picture looks like the color has been enhanced and changed to orange. Do not know of the Corvette.

----Of course we can all see the Nickey Chevy trailer next to the Ferrari, but if you look behind the trailer I think you can see a corner of the Nickey Nouse Scarab. Probably no help but interesting, none the less. I think I'm right at least......Bill S

Being Ronnie Kaplan built Nickey's Purple People Eater SR2 and 'Nickey Nouse' '63 Z06, could the subject car perhaps have originally been Kaplan's '62 Nickey Nouse driven by Bob Johnson and/or Roger Ward at Sebring and Daytona 1962?

yes you are correct .George reed only raced the 250 Ferrari Tr at Road America in years 1961 late to 1964 early. The purple car has a number 1 on it . It is purple in colour for whole car since number one is on side . As a result the car is the Nickey Purple People Eater Mark III that was driven by Jim Jeffords SEE for picture https://rrdc.org/2014/03/25/jim-jeffords-1927-2014/. It could also be the 1959 Corvette purple people eater Mark II since with person standing bedise it can see id white insert .
