Default MCACN 2022 Off and Running With Some Updates KINDA LONG!

I am thrilled to say that we are off and running with preparations for MCACN "Lucky 13", November 19-20, 2022.

While we used to have a bit of "down-time" after the show, I am pleased to say that didn't really happen this year. Maybe it is Post Covid Fever or maybe some decided to hold off until things get back to "normal", (whatever that may be!) but we have been non-stop since right after the holidays.

So, while we are preparing for a major update on the website, I thought I'd give you a "sneak-peek" at some of the new Invitational and Special displays we have in store for you at the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals show this year.

Keep in mind these are just the NEW Invitational and Special displays. Our regular features, like Vintage Certification, Corvette Central Triple Diamond display and competition, Barn Finds & Hidden Gems,Ford & Shelby Pinnacle Certification, Muscle Bicycle and Mini Bike "Shows Within the Show" and of course, Premier Unveilings return, as will an expanded High Performance Snowmobile display.

And here's the best part; Several of these displays have been in the works for over a year, (much like last years '66-67 W30 Olds Invitational) which means they are either already full or close to full.

If you have a special car that fits one of these Special Displays, please send pictures and information asap. If you have a car that does not fit one of the displays, but is a great example of American Muscle, please let me know. We have already blown past the 100 cars entered mark, which is way earlier than ever before, with no end in sight. We will also be strictly limiting Concours Judging, as we will not compromise the integrity by taking in too many judged entries. Send info to [email protected]

So, (drumroll please!) allow me to give you a taste of some of the new features we are working on:

Wings Over America;

The Mopar Aero Warriors, Presented by The Brothers Collection. This year we put the spotlight on the wild winged Mopars of 1969 and1970. Certainly, among the most outrageous Muscle Machines ever built, you will see some of the rarest and most desirable examples. Dodge Daytona’s on the right, Plymouth Superbirds on the left with 440-4 barrel, 440-6 barrel and mighty 426 Hemi’s from mild to wild. I will also be writing another Limited Edition hardcover commemorative book with stories on each of the cars in this display, like we did with the Hemi E=Body convertible display a few years ago. More on that later!

Class of 1967 Invitational, Presented by NCM Insurance.

1967 may not be the first year you think of when it comes to American Muscle but think about it; the new Plymouth GTX and Dodge Coronet R/T’s were introduced along with the Pontiac Firebird and Chevrolet Camaro. Olds W30’s became readily available while Mercury introduced the Cougar. It would also be the final year for the C2 Corvette, and a variety of 427’s were offered. And that’s just a sampling of what you will see in this very special gathering.

Class of ’72 Invitational, Presented by Garner Customs & Restorations.

While the writing was on the wall, those in the know could still order a true Muscle Machine. Olds offered a W30 455, Buick had the Stage 1 455 and you could still purchase a Cobra Jet Ford or Mercury. The Roadrunner/GTX had a 440 under the hood and you could check that box for the Charger also. And lets not forget, Pontiac also offered the hot 455 H.O. for the GTO, Trans Am or Formula!

X-Code Invitational; a Display Within the Display, Presented by Garner Customs & Restorations.

If you knew your way around an order sheet in ‘72, you could still build a hot Oldsmobile Muscle Machine. The “X-Code” 455 W30’s are strong performers and of course, still featured the cool fresh air induction system with air intake scoops under the front bumper. You will see an entire row of these sought-after rarities.

Buick G.S. Special Display, Hosted by Ajesh Parikh.

Once again, we present a “Display within the Display” for our 50th Anniversary area. For the past several years Ajesh has assembled a stellar group of Buick’s hottest performers, and this year he is coordinating this gathering with an emphasis on the rare 1972 Stage 1 G.S. models. Think about it…when was the last time you saw a prime ’72 G.S.? This year you will see an entire row of them at MCACN.

Maple Leaf Muscle: A Salute to Canadian Muscle, Presented by Muscle Cars, Bone Stock & Modified Magazine.

For years we have enjoyed the support and participation from our “north of the border” friends. Fact is, there is a LOT of American Muscle with strong ties to our Canadian neighbors. In addition to the Beaumonts and Acadians, many original Hemi cars, W30’s and so many more were originally purchased and live in Canada. Join us for a salute to some of the finest Canadian cars along with some really cool and enthusiastic owners.

Corvette Legends Invitational, Presented by Corvette Mike and Corvette Mike-Midwest.

This year we spotlight the ultra-rare and desirable C2 “Tankers”. First offered as in 1963, these Corvette Coupes were developed for racers who needed the extended range a large tank offers. When combined with heavy duty suspension, brakes and more, these C2’s were among the most competitive track ready Corvettes ever built. Rare even when new, we will have an incredible display that will spotlight every year, from 1963-1967.

Malaise Era Muscle, 1973-1987 Invitational, Hosted by Brad Schroeder.

While performance may have been dying, there were a few decent performers, and you could always “look” the part! And fortunately, by the late 80’s a resurgence in performance was on the horizon. This display may surprise you, as there were a few actual performance cars that you may have never heard of. Yes, you could still get a big block in the new G.M. Colonnade cars, Dodge introduced the final B-Body Magnum and Ford offered a 302 in the King Cobra, complete with 60’s inspired graphics.

Performance Wagon Invitational.

Yes, even station wagons can have a performance twist! This display will feature a variety of Station Wagons that have huge engines under the hood along with high performance features. You’ll see 4-speeds, 8-lugs and multiple carburetors here. Several of these cars are truly “one of one” built.

Mr. Norms Grand Spaulding Dodge Invitational, Hosted by Larry Weiner.

In memory of our good friend and longtime MCACN participant “Mr. Norm” Kraus, a Chicago and National Legend, we present an historical overview of the hottest performance cars that came out of Grand Spaulding Dodge. From the earliest 440 powered Darts to Turbocharged Demons to modern day interpretations, you will see it all…along with some unexpected surprises!

Big Body Muscle, Featuring the 1962 Model Year.

Not all performance cars are mid-size or Pony Cars! This gathering will feature Big Body Muscle from several manufacturers. Post Bodies and Coupes along with some unexpected surprises. 421 Catalina’s, 409 Biscaynes and again multiple carburetors will be seen.

Keep on Truckin; The Vans of the Disco Era Invitational, Hosted by Mark Coates.

Sometimes you just have to do something purely for fun. This hand-selected gathering will present real “Disco Era” custom vans of the 70’s. Step back in time to the era of bellbottoms, pooofy hair and wild murals and sidepipes. This display is all about having fun and will have some cool related memorabilia that will blow you away.

So that gets you up to date. Of course, the MCACN show is always a work in progress, so more may be added later.

Also to confirm, the dates will remain the same, meaning the weekend before Thanksgiving which is November 19-20, 2022 this year. There was a possibility of changing to a slightly earlier date as another event was considering a date change, but they decided to remain on the same date, so there are no openings for us to do the show earlier.

Thanks for the continued support, and please help us spread the word! We always welcome your feedback and idea's.

Bashton

Wow the line up is off the hook!!

I love the variety and of course the Maple Leaf Muscle is calling my name.
I bet Albert Galdi has a little something to spice up this display……….

I am looking forward to re entering the wild world of muscle cars this year and can’t wait to catch up with so many friends at MCACN!!!!

The X code 1972 442's are going to be a great display. I can't wait, Bob. I'm looking forward to seeing Mikes' tanker Corvettes, too.

Happy to say we have already eclipsed the 100 cars entered mark, with fresh new entries being confirmed nearly every day.

Three of the Invitational displays are really heating up; Our Red Carpet Daytona & Superbird display is almost full already, while our Maple Leaf Muscle and our Malaise Era Muscle displays are taking off in a BIG way with some really incredible (and in many cases, unexpected!) cars.

Whew...it is going to be another GREAT year for MCACN.

THANKS to all for the continued support and participation.

Bashton
