Greyhound bus is another option. Probably the lowest price but wrap it well with bubble wrap before you put it back in the original box. The one big downside is they will only insure for $300. I have shipped fenders and hoods, even a quarter panel, with good luck so far.

LOL. Same story. UPS lost my BE rear end. A few tense moments. I also hade a hood show up damaged. Pack it well.

I read that Fastenal does shipping. You will have to deliver it to your local store and your friend will have to pick it up at his nearest Fastenal store.

The only real safe way to insure it gets there undamaged is to build a wooden box. I bought a hood from Jim @ Heartbeat years ago and it was delivered by truck freight in a plywood box. Go to Lowes and buy the cheaper flake board plywood 3/8"

I agree, its a beautiful drive. I just did it, drove up through Nv into Idaho then into Wa. America the beautiful.
