Legendary aviator Boob Hoover
Sadly Bob Hoover passed away this morning. Bob Hoover a World War II fighter pilot, an Air Force test pilot and the chase plane pilot for Chuck Yeager when he broke the sound barrier for the first time, was 94 old.
I met Bob when I was about 8 years old on one of my annual trips to Oskosh. He was very polite to me and took as much time as I needed to answer any questions I had about his flying technique. Somewhere I have an autographed picture of him with his arm around me. I will cherish that. A great aviator and veteran indeed. Rest in peace Mr. Hoover.
