Default 1969 SS396 L35 / L78 Chevelle in Monaco Orange

This 1969 SS396 Chevelle Coupe was purchased from Volo Auto Museum in April 1999. This Chevelle began life as numbers matching Frost Green SS396 L35 325hp - 3 Speed Manual Trans. The car came to Volo from Oklahoma repainted “Resale Red” with approximately 60,000 miles. The current owner was able to trace back two previous owners in Oklahoma. The current owner enjoyed the car until January 2005 when he started a frame-off restoration with Custom Cars in LaGrange, IL. For two years prior the owner collected NOS and restored parts to build the car as a “Numbers Matching” L78 375hp M22 4-Speed car. With the help of many knowledgeable 1969 Chevelle enthusiasts the car is a very accurate reproduction of a real L78 Chevelle.

Some of the features of this Chevelle are: a restored GM Tach and Gauges Instrumentation, Chevrolet Cowl Plenum Air Cleaner with correct GM air filter, Gardner Chambered Exhaust System, GM 1969 rolled exhaust tips, GM correct restored AM/FM radio, GM tilt steering column with GM 3 spoke steering wheel. The frame is a boxed GM Convertible frame out of a 1970 Chevelle.
The engine is a correct GM 4-bolt #272 casting block, GM #840 cylinder heads, GM #163 intake, GM #065 water pump, #4346 Holley Carburetor, All GM deep groove pulleys, GM #837 alternator with date coded diodes, correct GM yellow-tip dipstick, Jeff Dotterer restored fuel pump. Complete GM Smog System. Engine was built with roller valve train but otherwise modern stock spec components internally. Engine produced 411hp on an engine dyno prior to installation. Correct battery cables, reproduction R59 battery, correct hoses, valve covers and other engine bay details. Correct Paint and Coatings throughout the entire car.....no short cuts. This Chevelle was restored just as GM would have, but only better.

The interior of the car was restored by Ogden Top and Trim of Berwyn, IL. It features code #755 black bench front seat interior from Legendary Interior with correct GM Deluxe seat belts, new carpeting, new floor mats, correct floor shifter with correct 4-speed pattern shift knob, working NOS map light rear view mirror, NOS rear window defogger. Car will include AM/FM radio tag, visor sleeve with starting instructions, instruction book and some other reproduction 1969 paperwork. New Firestone "Wide Oval" Tires on GM correctly dated YA wheels. All factory NOS GM "T3" Headlights.

The car has won numerous awards including three Chevy Vettefest Gold Spinners; Fall 2006 at it’s first show, Spring 2007 and Fall 2007 when it was also won the Top Gun Award Best Chevelle. 2007 World of Wheels Class Winner and Chevy Vettefest Promoters Pick Best Restored Chevy. 2007 Super Chevy Show at Route 66 Drag Strip Class Winner. 2011 and 2012 Chevel-Abration Top Three ’69 Stock (participant voted). This car also won a 2009 MCACN Show "Concourse Gold" Award and was featured on the cover of Muscle Car Review Magazine July 2008.

This car performs and drives as it should and the paint is still near perfect. The car has been kept in a heated garage with a dehumidifier and in a “Car Jacket”. There are approximately 1200 miles on the car since restoration. This car is ready to be shown at any show and compete with the Best.

Price $79,900.00.....As of Today April 7th, 2017....New Price $65,900.00

Please feel free to email me with any questions [email protected]. The car is located in the Chicago Area.

Thank You,
Dan Vasic
