Default 69 z/28

Real 1969 Z/28. Was told that the dealer painted the car black brand new. This is a 12A car, so no X code on the trim tag, but the G inside the fender extensions and X7 on the rear package tray are original and visible. Odometer shows 17,xxx original miles and that is believed to be true. The car had a warranty replacement 302 short block put in the car in 1970 and it’s still in the car. Original transmission and rear (M20/BU). The car has the original heads, intake, 480 distributor, radiator, pulleys, fan, brackets, manifolds, throttle rod, etc. Real DZ carb, but 69 dated, so probably also replaced under warranty. All the original suspension minus shocks, all the Z/28 springs, steering, brakes, etc. still on the car. The ride and steering are very tight just like a 17K mile car should be. Shifter changed, but the reverse lockout is still on the car. The car has good metal and original gray grille, but had some repair on the rear wheel lips that you can find if you dig around on the car. The floors, trunk floor, rockers, dropdowns, etc. are all in great shape. Real spoiler and console car. Great original interior including carpet, seats, dash pad, headliner, etc. Old lacquer paint that has some checking and blemishes, but it fits the car very well; almost like it was original paint. Would be an easy resto project or a car you could drive for a while as someone decides the future of the car. In reality this car is a great driver that could get the sh*t driven out of it, some burnouts, and would draw a crowd at any car event. Going on Ebay this weekend, need the space! $55K reserve or selling price.

I like it too.

A flipper will grab it, add some lipstick, and sell it on BAT for 95k.

Even though the tag shows 711 (black standard) interior, the right side kick panel is green, dyed black. That's weird. Would think if he had to replace it, it would have been much easier to source a black one.

I don't get the tail panel emblem on the dash.

Looks a lot like my car, except for console, and mine has a tach.

Lynn, But Your's didn't start life as a Green Car did it? It seems like every other 1969 Z-28 started out as a Green Car. But once again, I'm just sayin' Bill

I am helping a friend looking at this car. He doesn't have the knowledge. Not that I do, but I got the eye for things out of place. He wants a black 69Z and doesn't care it's not the original color or original motor.
Do we know if the cowl tag has been off this car? The rivets are crinkled in spots on the outer edges and not symmetrically round. Also, the rivet filler looks like it might have fingerprints in it? What do we know? Danny

I'm assuming the factory painted that kick panel. We've seen similar things on other cars. There's no evidence that it was ever changed.

Trim tag was never off the car.

Sent a PM with my #.
