Default Very Nice '72 Heavy Chevy, #s 350/4-sp

The color combo won't be everyone's cup of tea, but this is definitely one of the nicer Heavies I've seen in recent history. I assumed these would have had an all-vinyl interior...would the cloth have been available in this trim level?

Very clean, original car! Rare to see them with the correct original interiors like that.

The Heavy Chevy could have black cloth or vinyl, blue cloth, green cloth or vinyl, or tan vinyl. However you couldn't order carpet at all! Someone (possibly a dealer back in the day) added that long the way. They were only offered with a rubber floor mat.

I agree, the color combo isn't ideal, but it sure screams the 70's!

I don't recall seeing wood grain on the door panels on an HC ?? Another embellishment to go with the carpet ?

I believe the door panels for the Heavy Chevy are actually from an Oldsmobile or Buick….IIRC

Someone correct me if I’m wrong.

Nope! Actually in 1972 the base model Chevelle's (which included all Heavy Chevys, as it was technically a lower model than the Malibu) got the wood grain striped door panels. It was a one-year only configuration as the 1971 base model had an ivory stripe, which was also specific to that one year.

While the '72 base model door panels were similar in style to the Olds and Buick panels they were unique to the base model Chevelle. The wood grain is nearly identical (quite possibly identical, wouldn't surprise me one bit if Chevy used the same wood vinyl) to the burled wood used in Monte Carlo's of the era.

It's the '71 panels I remember.
I was thinking the wood grain was very similar to the Monte's too, but, obviously, not a Monte panel.

I see someone managed to add a God-forsaken "CAUTION - FAN" sticker on the fan shroud
