Default Nickey Sold Nova- Researching History

I'm helping a friend research a car he owns, here are details:

1969 Nova SS
L34
4 speed manual
black/black
Purchased from Nickey new
Supposedly car had been in Chicago area up until around 2018

Day 2 modifications include:
LS6, some work by Skip's Performance in Mt. Prospect
Tunnel ram, dual 660s
TH400
12 bolt, 4.56 gears, has early TA cover
Flares
Slotted wheels, Fentons and Gyros
Appliance headers

Car was sold out of the area by John Platania. A longtime past owner reportedly worked for Flying Tigers Airways as a mechanic and lived in Desplaines. Through research have heard there was a guy named Don Clemons who might have been that guy.

Welcome any clues, hints, info. Have already tagged Stefano on FB with a post and hit up some of the local FB groups.

I believe this car was for sale on this site a few years ago.

'

Yep, we looked at this car here a few years back.
If rear axle tube original to car, what is the stamping?
Lots of BB Nova ads in this thread worth cruising that may offer clues...

Best of luck w/ your quest!

A "NicKey Nova" and a "Nickey sold Nova" are not nesessarily the same thing. Once the L78 cars became available they were the go to conversion platform. Not to say that other powertrain optioned cars were NOT converted, it just was not the norm.

There is nothing in the info I have collected over the years regarding this Nova and there was nothing presented when it was up for sale to prove or even imply that it was converted by NicKey. The NicKey Chicago speed shop also converted and Hot- rodded many cars after the fact, which were initially sold and delivered new as regular Muscle Cars.

Sounds like you have some leads to chase down. Keep us posted as to what you find. It looks like a Kool Nova,

Stefano, it's a Nova sold out of the dealership, it's not a conversion car.

Isn't this the one that has the 1970 LS6 engine in it?

I am aware that the NCRS doc shows it was delivered to NicKey Chevrolet. In your title you call it a "NicKey Nova". I was clarifying that a "NicKey Nova" in the Super Car world as well as the NicKey Registry would be one built by the dealership and/or speed shop.

Gotcha, would you like the title re worded?

But back to the car, we chasing the Don Clemon's lead. Owner loves this car, he's just trying to make a connection to the past. He could be in his 70s now.
