Default Yenko Camaro Drag Test- York US

This car with headers and street tires produced a best time of 12.59 @108.17mph. Next M&H slicks were added producing a best of 11.94 @114.50 mph. Amazing results for a virtually stock car, with help from an amazing driver
Ed Hedrick!

I was only 3 when these came out, but they had to be some of the fastest on the street for the day. Thanks for posting these Steve.

ED, Told me himself, about the test, at york. He said, he thinks the car had more. But the clutch was getting hot. And they where running out of time, for that day. Of testing. BBBenny.

I remember Ed recalling this event while speaking at a SCR in early 2000's. He felt the clutch was ready to fail and couldn't drive it too hard, which prevented him from bettering the 11.94 time.

Dick Williams shared some interesting and humorous insight to the test Camaro at the SCR this year. I will let him elaborate but let's just say the motor was not exactly "as advertized"

Look forward to hearing In the article Williams and Hedrick were amazed. "it's completely stock, honest. We had no idea it would run this well. Can't believe it. And we didn't even touch the carb and street plugs are still in it"

Both the Yenko Chevelle and Yenko Camaro article mention that AC was available.

There was at least one 1968 Yenko 427 built with AC but I have not heard of any 1969 427 Yenkos Chevelle or Camaro with AC .

There is a red Yenko Chevelle with AC but was owner installed.

Something interesting in an ad where it looks like someone mixed up the Gold test car photo with Ed's Race car photo
