Default Correct 1969 Big Block Starter W/ Auto Transmission?

Trying to piece this together. I’m trying to figure out what starter I need for a COPO car with an automatic trans. I’ve seen 1108430 listed for automatics and 1108418 for manuals. However, in trying to hunt for a 1108430, I can’t find anything dated before 1970?

Anyone help shed some light on this for me?

Depends on which COPO.

The 1969 Chassis Service Manual lists 1108418 for all 396 engine/transmission combos. L72 was not listed but no reason to believe it would be different.

ZL-1 automatics substituted 1108400, possibly due to the higher compression.

Thanks guys for the response, the car is a 427 COPO. I just read across it and was curious as if I had my thinking messed up. When the car was purchased it didn’t have the original TH400 behind it. I just remembered it not being the correct 418 starter. I went out just note to check at what came off of it and of course it’s a 430. However it is dated for 1974. I’ll probably just go ahead and snag a 418 and call it done.

Corvettes are listed separately in the Chassis Service Manual.

Camaro, Chevelle and Nova w/396 engine list the same 1108418 starter.

B-body w/427 also shows the 1108418.

What date 418 are you looking for?

Remember is should have the stainless heat shield as well- for both M40 and 4 speed
