Interesting L88-Powered '71 Corvette
Cool car - not sure if the headlamp covers would grow on me or not, but overall it's a pretty tough looking '71.

I do like that car, I wish the pictures were better. I can't get them to enlarge. The LeMans headlights are a nice touch.

It reminds me of a car that is in the Corvette Corral every year at Road America. I've gotten to know the owner through the car and we're friends now. I always ask him if it's for sale and he says he will never sell it. I'd own this one in a heartbeat.

I wish I still owned this custom Corvette back when I lived in Springfield, Illinois as these 70’s era customs have come back around to being a cool collectible and a blast to drive.
I owned this car in the mid 70’s and it was built by Dick Ferrando in Gillespie, Illinois. He used various Corvette components from different years, plus the Lemans gas cap and Lemans plexiglass headlight covers. He went the extra mile on those covers as they were cut in half, with the back half incorporated into the body. I recall this engine was a 1970 LT1 with a ‘63 FI unit. The car was wicked. Plus it had all the comfort in air conditioning and leather. If you only knew.

Wasn't that car pictured in a Corvette issue of Hot Rod Magazine? That is a cool car.

Dick Ferrando did something very unique on every panel on this custom Vette.
From the perfect wheel well “flares”, to the smoked slanted rear window, this Black car was a crowd pleaser. Although it’s difficult to see from these 48 year old photos, but the “shark gills” seem to be the 1969 version that he flipped to have an outward look and slanted. So many people loved this slanted gill look. I remember Dick said those were a bitch to make. I sure would love to have this parked in my garage today.

luzl78,
I would have no idea how to find that. Here is the last photo I have in 1976 in my parents driveway. It was registered to me in Springfield Illinois then. Chris.
