Default Chevy Volt totaled by a Battery Replacement

Roger Dean Chevrolet has confirmed that this story is not a hoax.

A Chevy Volt owner took his 2012 vehicle to Dean Chevrolet in Florida to get an estimate on a new EV battery. The price he was given was nearly double what the actual car to be repaired would sell for today

The VOLT has only 70,489 miles on it.

Today, the book on a 2012 Volt is between $7,999 and $17,590.

Not sure where this came from, but the battery PN is 20979876 and retails for about $6800.

That’s the PN for a refurbished battery. The PN on the invoice is for a new battery which has been discontinued by GM. That is why the price is so high for the few that remain in the inventory.

The initial article was very misleading, so either they didn't do their homework or it's an intentionally mislead article.

The FL Battery Fee @ $1.50 is interesting, what is it in other States also watch for future changes here?
Are the Refurb Batteries readily available also what of any factory participation campaigns?
The real truths about Electric Vehicle costs also their impact on the environment being far from 'green' is starting to surface but may be too late?

IMO, this battery vehicle thing will keep getting pushed toward critical mass. Somewhere along the journey the facts will became inescapable and it will become a "forced stop". Hell, Cali can't even produce enough energy for people to run the a/c units on their homes when they want.

What are the manufactures doing with dead batteries? Can they be recycled?
