 The 1964 GTO was originally planned to have Front Disc Brakes and Michelin radial tires. Both were nixed by Ed Cole, head of the GM car and truck group.

 1964 GTO Flamme Show Car Promotional Photo Originally, the car was called the LeMans Flamme and had no GTO emblems. This is the very first Pontiac to wear the GTO name.
