This should go without saying, but I am extremely grateful that Rick chose me to do this engine build for him. Some might see this as just another garden variety big block Chevy build, but to me, this is much, much more.

We won't be getting silly with this build in the quest for big power. This is going to be a straightforward build focusing on the basic fundamentals, good parts, quality machine work, and attention to the details. Rick has given me the green light to perform a few minor "tweaks" here & there to bump the power up a little, and we will dyno the engine when it's complete for the purpose of break-in, to ensure everything is happy, and to verify it's making the power it should make.

I'll be posting pics & videos here and on my business Facebook page as we go. The short block and heads are already at the machine shop, and we're planning on getting started on the work next week. Stay tuned for the details.

And again, I can't thank Rick and Ann enough for this opportunity--and the privilege to be a part of this build.

I am very happy with the engine builder I use here in town but he is close to retirement. This engine was just another engine to him which is fine, I get it. However Eric was very excited when I contacted him, has been doing my carburetors for well over 10 years and I have seen his track record on engines so I decided to let him have a go at it. He understands what I want and need from this engine and I do not have to babysit him like I do others so it is an all around good marriage. Most importantly as I have seen with some of his other builds and much like I am, if an engine is not pulling what he thinks it should be he will spend countless time and research until he gets it where he wants it. I cannot ask for much more loyalty than that.

Eric,

I've been following your video posts on FB. So cool to watch/ learn the details through the videos. Excellent info and an amazing way to document the process!

Keep posting and congrats again Rick and Annie!

Best,
Dave
