Default Appliance brand headers from the early 70's???

Hello,
I have a set of Appliance brand headers on my 69 Z28 that were installed back in the early part of 1974. Does anyone know anything about these headers? Were they very popular? Were they considered to be any good etc...??
They sure seem to be good ones. They have been on the car for 33 years and still look pretty good.

Thanks for the help!!!

I considered Appliance Headers for my Chevelle in that same time period. Ended up buying a set of M/Ts instead. Appliance were something of a lower cost piece when compared to the likes of Hooker, Hedman, etc. Not bad items though, and I used to see them fairly often.

I must say the guy that owned this Z for 34 years must have known something about headers in the 70's. Because these things look darn good for lasting this long.

Are they still white? As best as I can recall, all Appliance headers came painted white. They usually never stayed white for very long

Appliance were always the cheaper brand of products. Does not mean they were bad just cheaper. I think places like Sears, JC Penneys and a few other dept. stores carried this somewhat off brand. They worked and the tubing was thick enough to withstand the test of time. Keep em!!

Nope, they are not white and there are no indications of them ever being white. But then again they have been on the car for 30+ years and have around 50k miles on them. Strange thing is, the guy that owned the car for 34 years said that they were high dollar headers for back then and said he researched them before buying. He also said that he left the exhaust manifolds at the speed shop where he had the headers installed. LOL!!!
I had an exhaust system put on my car a few months back. The installer was a old hot rodder. He went on and on about how nice those old headers were. Kept commenting on the old square flanges.
I think some people just like them because they look so retro I guess...

I will e-mail the old owner to see if they were white. Who knows maybe he was mistaken by the brand name.

Thanks for the history lesson guys!!!!!!
