72 LT1 coupe Steel Cities 17k miles $42,500
This one is on the NCRS website...
I attempted to find this car when I was looking for the year or so prior to buying my car... I had run across the photos which are in the ad, but could not locate the car. If I were in the market for a LT1 this is one I would be going to see in person. anyway, here is the AD. 1972 Corvette LT-1 Coupe 17000 Original miles Steel Cities Grey with Black Standard interior. Highly detailed. Numbers matching front to back. No disappointments. Bloomington survivor judged. Original Minnesota car. $42500.00 For more information call. 403-540-5972 link https://www.ncrs.org/classified/index.php?a=2&b=3703

Nice car, but it has been clear coated and "detailed" after survivor judging, so that claim is a little misleading.

There was a 25k mile Targa Blue 72 LT1 coupe which traded for the same money last September - one owner docs and paper complete to the smog etc, I though the two were comparable, turns out they are not.

The owner has a number of unrestored c3’s....seems like a nice guy.

Always thought that was a great color, and seldom seen.

So what’s it worth? I like it if it’s real?

Pretty car and the last year for the solid lifter motor.

I love the car, but it is difficult to price. I had a 32,000 mile original paint 72 LT-1 that had been clear coated and over detailed. The clear coating killed much of the interest in the car and placed it more in the restored category than the unrestored category for many of the buyers who came to see it. Personally, I'd probably pay about $38K for this car if it ran and presented well in person.

I think you're correct, Zedder. I'm amazed at the prices cars like this are bringing. People say this is a rich mans hobby, but to buy a car that has awards like Benchmark and Top Flight at under 40K is amazing (regardless of clear coat). What a kick in the pants to drive this car with solid lifters and 4.11 gears.

Pretty sure thats how the Hot Rod magazine August '72 test car was set up. They dipped it into the 13s (13.98 ?) if I recall correctly
