Default 1967 Corvette Stampings - Opinions

Looking at buying a 1967 L-71 Corvette and would appreciate input on the transmission and engine pad stamps. These are the only photos I have available at this time. The trim tag shows a December 14, 1966 assembly date. I appreciate the photos are not ideal and the pad/stamp examination will require more time and attention.

You're looking at buying one of the most forged vehicles out there, the 1967 435 horse Corvette. Be very, very cautious. Does this Corvette have any paperwork?
Did I mention to be very, very cautious?

LOL. Tim the car was originally sold in Canada and has Canadian paperwork issued by GM Canada Vintage Vehicle Services so I'm not concerned so much about how the car left the factory, rather more about its stamps.

For reference, here is the pad from my 400hp car that is a known original motor. My Dad bought this car in 1975..........

These pics are from about 10 years ago. If you like, I can send some updated ones.

Hope this helps answer a few questions.

Tim

Photos are insufficient to make a judgement. PM me for further details if needed.

Thanks Dan, I will be viewing the car on the weekend and plan to take some hi-res photos.

Canadian docs show options in '67? Can you post a picture of them?

Lloyd, you should get Al Grenning (CCAS) to authenticate the pad, he is the leading authority on Corvette engine pads .

I believe Al would reserve judgement until he can look at a more detailed picture.

Yes I 100% agree, Al requires certain picture pixels and size.

Lots of very knowledgeable people on this site, but I think Grenning documentation authenticating the pad would go a long way to the cars value, lots of fakes out there as noted.

BTW- Tim, think I met you in Calgary a few yrs ago,
