A VIN of N644667 would have been final-assembled on or about May 14.

The 'BDY' number had nothing to do with production scheduling.

The only reason I can see why a 1969 Camaro would leave the factory without the molding on the rocker panels, would be that they never made the holes fore it in the "sheetmetalpress".
Has anyone ever seen an unmolested 1969 Camaro without those holes ?

Now you guys got me thinking. My 69 doesn't have the rocker panal spear mouldings either. I will look tomorrow daytime if the holes are there.

Well I was wrong. The moulding frames are there both sides, but no actual mouldings on them.

It's more likely that the moldings would be deleted on purpose then by mistake - but anything is possible. Think of the cascading of mistakes for this to happen by accident -

piercing fixture fails to engage - both sides

pass side lower trim installer fails to note omission.

driver's side lower trim installer fails to note omission.

paint (P) body (B) and trim (T) inspectors fail to notice omission - both sides.

dealer fails to notice omission (or just doesn't make correction)

Great looking car, but I would like to know the story on the black SS vert with Orange HT interior and orange D90 stripe!
