Default '78 Code 51 TA -- What's it worth?

Came across this locally. Any ideas what it's worth? All original condition, unrestored.

Asking $15k

I think that is a reasonable price if it hasn't been tortured in the past and it is still original paint, etc. Looks like aftermarket door guard strips and missing its front center spoiler section. Is it a 400 4-speed? They are the highest valued cars. Rare color, too.

Engine is the 400 CI but it appears to be an auto.........sorry about the "thumbnail" pics....not sure why they loaded that way? He does reveal the missing spoiler in the ad. Always garage kept, original paint (with a couple touch ups), 71k miles, zero rust.

I had a '78 similar to this one. Mine came with door guard strips from the factory.

Is this the Pontiac 400 or Olds 403? That makes a difference as well.

Agreed; rare color, but not necessarily the most desirable color.

Mine was silver over red, 400, auto with Hurst Hatches and lame highway gears.

Looks like the owner may have a thing for yellow cars, based on the yellow Corvette I see in the background. Not a common color on 78 Trans Am's, but also not very desirable.

No t-tops, no WS6, base engine, seems like a standard Trans Am. In 1978, the Olds 403 was only used in California and other high altitude areas (the 403 became standard for 1979), so this is most likely a standard Pontiac 400. Notice the missing shaker callouts? In 1978 only, the standard Trans Am Pontiac 400 did not use callouts, while the Olds 403 used "6.6 liter", and the much quicker (and more desirable) W72 option, which was the high performance Pontiac 400, had shaker callouts that read "T/A 6.6".

I would think $10-$15K is about right for a car like this.

Appreciate the insight folks. He's firm at $14k and I was just going to flip frankly.

a simple change to to set of 15X8 snowflakes with white letter tires would make a 100% improvement in the look of that car without making any permanent changes to what looks like a low mile original car. The black deluxe interior is a plus to help offset the yellow exterior. I'd also pray that the side molding was the glue on kind so it could get deleted easily.
