Default Early 1970 big block chevy 178/ 879 manifold question

Where did the 1969 879 178 big block chevy exhaust manifolds date run stop and the 1970 run begin? My 70 L78 Camaro came with E/27/9 and F/12/9 manifolds when I purchased it. I believe they should be on a late 69. It's a 03C 70. Motor assembly late September 69. I'm thinking October 69 is more appropriate.

Think the 1970 #879 specific manifolds starting getting released sometime in August 1969..Here's an August '69 dated Drivers side I've got, that has the unique 1970 flat machined locating pad on the #1 port, compared to the angled one next to it.

Thanks Mr70, I was aware of the 1970 unique 879. I forgot and didn't write it in my post. So August 69 starts the 1970 run on the manifolds for 1970. Thanks again now on the hunt for August or September 69 dated manifold 879/178 matching manifolds set. PM sent regarding yours if available for sale.

The Flat front pad on the 879 manifolds started in June of 69 if that's what Rick was using to differentiate between 69 and 70 exhaust manifolds. About the same time that the 065 water pumps were replaced with the 811's.

Just out of curiosity, why was that locator pad machined off?

Default Early 1970 big block chevy 178/879 manifold question

Steering box location moved from behind the subframe crossover to front of the subframe crossover due to front steering linkage moved from rear to front of crossover.

Thanks. Did late 69s get the machined tab, or just 70 model year?
