I like the engine stamp...any thoughts on the Vin stamp?

----It appears to me as if there was a bit too much sanding of the pad, possibly just during clean up of the block. Broach marks appear to be pretty much gone. Raised edges around the letter are gone as well. I'll let the numbers guru's post on the numbers as there are guys on here way better than me. With that said, I'm still saying the engine is the original!...….Bill S

I think the trim tag has been off the car. The block looks to have been milled. The engine stamp looks good, but the vin may have been restamped. Some times the vin stamp is not deep and get wiped clean when milled. Most of these big blocks don't warp, so no need to mill it level. And with todays technology in head gaskets, they seal with no issues. back then it was a metal gasket, no you have multilayer gaskets with different materials.

Most machine shop will say a block needs to be surfaced and most customers just go with their advice. Its always been that way.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the thoughts. Not sure what to make of the vin stamp and trim tag rivets. Owner’s video claims that the firewall was untouched...
