all the high dollar Chrysler teams with the enclosed rigs and the poor Chevy guys with the open rigs. HMMMMM funny how the guy with the little white vega and the "old style" red open rig carrier had all those big boys numbers!

I went through 2 ramp trucks during my racing years, a 1963 Ford single cab dually with a steel bed of unknown origin (very similiar to one pictured here), and a 1976 Chevy crew-cab dually with a Hodges bed. The popular box trailer was just coming to be the norm, but I always had a company demo and no truck as a tow vehicle so the ramp trucks really made sense for me. I wish I had the second one back as it was real nice and would come in handy today.

I can't compete with some of those rigs (...edit: ANY of those rigs - lol), but here's how we started out:

We thought we were "big time" when we built this open trailer in 1967:

I still have the old tow bar, so I added a hitch to the Grand Prix so that I could do this (pics taken May, 2010):

I still have the red truck and the open car trailer, too (disregard the Lo-Boy for the purposes of this discussion):

Here is the hauler we built for our 81 Pro Stock Camaro from an old tractor we found in a junk yard. We build the box out of aluminum tubing and covered it in prepainted aluminum sheets.
