Default Can Someone Confirm Original or Reproduction 1970 Packard Plug Wires?

Hi guys,

I just purchased a '70 RS Z28 and I'm curious if someone can tell me more about the plug wires currently on the car. I've purchased reproduction kits from Lectric Limited, but they never had orange boots. Mine are also dated 1Q-00, which certainly isn't the first quarter of 2000, right?

I took a peek at Charley's '70 Z28 survivor website, and his boots are also black. The last photo is of Charley's car, for reference.

Are mine original (over the counter?) or reproduction? Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Jeff

All of the orange boots I recall were over the counter replacements and were sold in the white/red/blue boxes

I am pretty sure all of the production wires were dated.

I greatly appreciate your insight on this. It's an incredibly honest car, and it'd make sense to me that the wires could be older over the counter replacements.

I'm under this impression as well. I've never seen a 00 date code before, which is what made me wonder if maybe these are possibly vintage dealer parts counter wires?

Here is a 1st quarter 1984 over the counter example that I ran for a while on my 70 z28 when I was a kid.

I greatly appreciate you sharing your photo. This convinces me these are over the counter replacements on my car, too.

Jeff, I work at AAW. Those is an over the counter Delco wire set made in the 1st qtr of 2000. The orange boots are all later replacements, not Assembly correct. The originals were black. Some of the HD wire sets from back in the day had green boots. Hope this helps.

Donny

Apples and oranges but here is a photo of the original plug wires on my old 1973 SD455. Orange boots.
