Default Virgil Maple Auction Independence, MN

Anyone here going to the preview of the Virgil Maple Auction in Ind. MN on May 23.

Auction ends May 30, and apparently it is ON LINE only.

Only one day for preview, Sat. May 23 from 10 am to 6pm.

I am thinking of flying in Friday, renting a car and flying home Sunday. Really cheap airfare right now.

Would be GREAT if one of you guys wanted to join me.

Only thing that could ruin it would be if it is raining cats and dogs.

Looks like a fun outing.

No muscle cars. Just one Chevy, but it it a nice looking Tropical Turquoise 57 two door HT Bel Air. Really tempted, as I had a Two Ten two door sedan same color, TT with a white tip, in High School.

Most of the cars are old Studebakers, including an almost complete 57 Golden Hawk. It is missing the supercharged engine, but I have a complete 57 GH drive train, and even an extra frame. This GH may go cheap, and it is the right color; gold with white fins.

Lots of antique tractors that run. They even have a Studebaker Weasel from WWII.

Also, a very cool mini Zip Van, which would be the ultimate swap meet vehicle, IMHO. Although, swap meets are just about gone the way of the dinosaur.

As with all auctions, there is a lot of misinformation in the listings.

PM me if you are interested in going.

and here is the understatement of the day, describing the inside of a 42 M5 truck:

"Interior needs work."

Her shaft is bent and her rear end leaks, you can fix her quick with an oily rag. Use a nail as a starter; I lost the key. Don't pay no mind to that whirrin' sound. She use a little oil, but outside a' that, she's cherry."

Oh come on! That is from the CW McCall song “Classified.”

If you have ever purchased an old car, you will relate.
