Hmmmm, nice find... now if I could only find the build sheet to justify spending this kind of $$$ on a motor after just spending a sum of $$$ for the car itself, with a fresh 396 that I helped build.

My original plan was to enjoy this until winter, then pull the interior apart to try and find the sheet. I'm starting to reconsider.

The funny thing is... back in 1989, when I started college, after I sold my 69 Impala, my dream car was a 69 Chevelle with a blown 427, and this was before I knew anything about COPOs or Yenkos. Now I'm only 25 cubic inches (and $8200) away from that dream. I think I can skip the blower for now.

First things first... I have to sell my 70 LeMans. I still can't believe that exactly one week ago, I had no idea I'd have this Chevelle in my garage. I had plans to clean up my LeMans and have some fun with it over my week off. Now its for sale at my brother's house, and I'm thinking of ripping an interior apart on a Chevelle.

And thanks to all of you, any bit of buyers remorse I had is gone for good.

Bob

My advice: don't worry about the MQ or the CE block...neither is original, so what's it matter...save your money on the stamped block and spend it on a good rotating assembly/valvetrain, or to put it back garnet & black!

Sweet find, though...

I would stop typing and gut the interior! If you can find a build sheet.... BTW, the build sheet will actually say 'COPO 95xx' on it!!!

Even if it proves to be "officially" a COPO,I'd still leave it alone. In it's present condition,it takes me straight back to high school in the Seventies. It will still be just as much a COPO with it restored or un-restored.I absoulutely love this car. It's a traffic stopper either way!!!!.My two cents!!!......BILLJ

Keep it as is!...you can always restore the car to original specs, but you can only have it as an original "Day 2" car once...right?...isn't that how it goes

I agree that this will remain a day 2 car. I personally never had the urge to find the original exhaust manifolds, AIR pump, carb, ignition, etc. to make a car "original".

As for the paint, I do think that if I do find a build sheet, I'll go back to Garnet Red. And maybe an MQ block. But I think that'll be all.

Changing subjects... how many of you plan on attending the ACES event on 8/17? I'm thinking it may be more fun than Woodward, at least this year. Not to mention my daughters and wife will have fun at the pool for the day.

And again, I can't say this enough...

I'm going and I believe Mike (M22Mike) and Grady (1969GRB) are also going. I'm planning on bringing three 1969 Chevelles, if I can finish the current project in time.
