Default 1970 L78 Chevelle Chariton IA

Anyone here ever owned or known of a Cortez Silver L78 1970 Chevelle sold new in Chariton, IA? I stumbled upon the original owner of the car today through work and he told me it was silver with a black vinyl top, black stripes, L78/TH400, cowl induction, buckets, console, tach and gauges. He ordered it new in the fall of 1969 and had for 4 years before he got married and was wondering if it still exist. Said he still has the window sticker for it at home since it was his first new car so if anyone knows who owns the car I'll hook them up with the original owner. I told him if he gets me the VIN I'd post it here so the detectives could look it up to see when it was last registered, hopefully he'll get back to me with it.

Very nice of you to do so and help out.

That color was a Beautiful Combo.....the only thing that would have made her better.....would have been a 4 Speed.

Best of luck in your search.
I hope you find her

Dan

Guy I went to high school with graduated in '69 and bought a Cortez Silver 300 SS L78/TH400 new. As was the times, he painted the sail panels with lace...
We all thought the car was a mistake at the factory, being built on a 300 platform. It wasn't until many years later we all learned how rare it was, especially with the L78.

If he passes it on to you, post the last 2 digits of the VIN.
I have a few L-78's in my Registry that it could be.

That would be great Mr70, thank you! I just spoke to the owner on the phone he's going said he would dig up the window sticker this weekend and get me the VIN. Once he does I'll post the last 3 digits for you.

This is why I wear 70 Chevelle hoodies all winter when I'm on the road for work, I get a couple inquiries about them every week it seems.
