Default Stewart Warner Reducer

Can anyone identify this lil puppy as to what it goes on or is it aftermarket?

It is a speedometer (corrector, reducer) to correct the speed for tire size, gear ratio change.

Back in the day I used to see these mostly on 4x4 trucks. They could be used on anything.

They could be used on anything. The number 1.272 may be the ratio unless there are other numbers stamped on it.

That round style came on the Yenko Deuce Novas with something like a .81234 ratio since they didn't offer the 4.10 gear in '70 Novas. Do you see that type of stamping anywhere on it?

Marlin, correct me if I am wrong but the one I attached looks more like the one I have seen on some 70 Nova's and Camaros. This type was on 1100 mile 70 Z28. Oddly enough Mark Mitchell's Classic Copper Z28 assembled very near the same time had the rectangular type of BW reducer. The one posted above by the original poster looks somewhat different to me but maybe I am wrong.

You might be right Rick, we've seen at least 3 different styles on the Deuces - so I'm not surprised that you've seen variation on the Z's as well.

Interesting. I knew of the two styles but did not know of the third. Thanks for the info.
