On the vertical face of the side of the block down by the oil pan rail on the passenger side, half way down the block. Its on a machined out three inch by one inch section.

Google search looks like 2536430 is a 1970 service replacement short block.

Excellent! Glad you found the weak link and glad it was relatively easy to find considering it could have been anywhere! Wait, something I suggested was actually the solution? Man...I think this will go down in history as the first time that I actually helped someone over the internet fix a car rather than the other way around!
Love the sound of that burnout! Cheers Dave Last edited by A12pilot; 12-20-2018 at 01:41 AM. |

Here is a pic of a 69 which has an E. 70 is F. Date is 4 8 ....which is April 8 VIN pad right side, above oil pan toward front of engine. Should match the trans VIN exactly |

I always thought of Charlie as the ultimate Camaro,Yenko,Copo guy. In recent years I have seen his Ford Convertibles Pontiac,Riviera and now tinkering with a Mopar. There is hope yet!

I have never seen any 440 block without a VIN pad....unless it's early....like maybe a '66-'68. Before they were stamping on the top rear of the block, near where the trans mates to the engine. After you stop bleeding have another look . Wonder what the casting date is. Block almost looks turquoise in the pics....may be early. Last edited by RS_COPO_Canuck; 12-20-2018 at 05:38 PM. |
