Jack Douglass Chevy Archeology
Several years ago I posted pictures taken during the renovation of a local Lambo/Maserati Dealer in Hinsdale, IL. Last time, all I could get were a few shots but last night I was suprised to see that the other side of the facility was being renovated. This morning there for the taking was the 3 section hand painted Jack Douglass sign. I walked up, asked for it, and they gave it to me! I have a few pics for you historians. Sorry to say that I was not in time to get a shot of my 1 (now 2)owner 67 Camaro that was bought new at this dealer and lived less than 1 mile away its entire life, in front of the sign. Enjoy!

Re: Jack Douglass Chevy Archeology
That's a great find Ed.
My Dad bought his 67 L79 Corvette when that building housed Classic Motors back in the 70's. I believe Douglass moved to Rte 83 just north of Ogden Avenue around that time, then changed to Team Chevrolet in the 80's, don't know what it is now. Jake |

Re: Jack Douglass Chevy Archeology
Hey Bill - isn't that the building where Dad first met you, Stretch, Emo, and everyone else after he bought the 67? Was that before or after the building on Main St. in Downers Grove?

Re: Jack Douglass Chevy Archeology
----Main street in Downers was first as Jack D was still in the dealership on Ogden. Once he moved out to his new digs Classic Motors moved in. Of course then we had the infamous move in the middle of the night over to the back of the Goodyear store. Later yet Richard had become friendly enough with Billy Jacobs that we moved into an empty building down in Joliet on the river. I made a slight detour around that time and went to work for Jim Krughoff building houses in Naperville......Bill S
----Oh!!! It was on Ogden that I met your Dad and all the rest of the gang. I never worked out of the Downers Grove shop, although I spent enough time there. |

Re: Jack Douglass Chevy Archeology
Thanks Bill - I remember all those places but wasn't quite sure of the order in which they were occupied back then.
