^^^exactly what Dave says...and I'd like to add to that just a little. I am not a professional painter, but have some good friends that are and that have guided me through when I had questions or needed advice. As a hobby painter, to me an important element that cannot be overlooked is simple preparation. I make myself a checklist step-by-step from the time I step foot in the shop to when I'm done and lay down the gun....even laying out mixing ratios and between coat times for easy reference. For me at least, because I do not do not paint on a regular basis, that once you start, the stress and anxiety can creep in and small steps in the process can be overlooked.

Dave is spot on about taping his suit and the potential for sweat or moisture to drip at the worst possible time. To add to this, as you practice, try spraying with the hose over your shoulder or wrapped behind your waist and held with your non-gun hand...helps keep the hose from contacting the surface....especially when reaching across hoods and roofs.

Good luck!

Some of the best tips I ever got from a painter; Dry run with the gun and hose (know your path and obstacles) & After mixing and before you spray... Slow Down... start calmly.
