Default $2 Million Hemicuda

Just got my Dec 04 issue of Mopar Action mag. It features a article on the last Hemicuda convertible built which recently changed hands for 2 million bucks.

Noted Mopar restoration Guru Roger Gibson made the deal happen.

Who said Muscle Car prices are 'soft'?

The last US production hemicuda ragtop (May 71 built) was my old yellow one which I dont think has sold (Charley do you know?) I believe one of the two export cars (1 grey, 1 blue) may have a higher VIN. Any one have any additional gossip? Several people have turned down that amount but I havent heard of any actual sales. -NJSteve

I don't have the article but I assume they are talking about the White with black billboards one that Gibson restored.

Wow! I just can't believe people are willing to pay that much money for those cars. I would think a 1 of 1 built car like the 68 Z28 convertible would bring the most money. What's so special about a hemi convertible? And yes, that is sarcasm on my part!

Not much, that's why I sold mine. The car had no soul...and it would never run better than a 14.05 at 105 mph. Though I wouldn't mind having it back just to sell it for $2,000,001.

Maybe because they look better than a Z28 convert and have alot bigger engine. The car is staying in the states thanks to the buyer. It was destined for England.

That would have been going to the Carlos Monteverde collection? He's got a lot of super rare hemi cars and frequently trades up for lower mileage cars, etc.

Yep....thats the one Charley.

Article states the current owner is Bill Weimann, same guy that paid $1 million for the blue car about a year ago. The white/black billboard car was a French-export. History on the car is a bit fuzzy, but it does state that Gibson completed the restoration last June.
