Default Benchmark!

Benchmark.

That is what Fred and I are calling this 1970 Oldsmobile 442 W30 19K mile true survivor.

Fred Mandrick and I purchased this car, we have both been talking about the car for about 6 months. We both love the car and its survivor status, ownership history, the special paint, etc. Both of us had major projects going in to MCACN 2018 and neither of us were prepared to do anything else other than get to the show.

We were both surprised that this car was still available for the Russo & Steele auction in Phoenix and even more surprised when the car did not sell. A day or two after the show Fred and I had a conversation and Fred decided to go personally inspect the car as it was still in the Phoenix area. When Fred went to inspect the car, he was extremely impressed with the car, even though he could not get the car on a lift, he saw enough of the car to see it was indeed very special!

Fred and I then talked several times over the next day, and neither of us could bring ourselves to purchase the car since we are both in the middle, once again, of big projects and limited space. Not being able to get the car out of my head, I gave a call to the owner of the car, Jay , nephew of the original owner Bob and after talking for over an hour and hearing the entire amazing history of the ownership of the car, and how dedicated Bob, the gentleman that special ordered the car as well as his family have been to this very special car ….. I knew what I had to do.

I called Fred and after a brief conversation, we both agreed, we needed to go in partners on this car, and put in a joint effort to bring this car and its story to the hobby in a focused and dedicated effort.

Fred and I will be working together, we will meticulously clean, and document every single inch of this very important car, we will put together a detailed history of the car using written documentation and pictures of the car throughout its 19,333 original mile life with the help of owner Mr. Jay Ross.

We will be bringing this car to the 2019 MCACN Car Show, where we will unveil the car in the Mascar booth with the car’s original ownership family, Bob's wife, their son, Grandson, and their nephew Jay. We will then take the car to the Vintage Certification area at MCACN where we will have the car inspected and Vintage certified.

We will post pictures and information from time to time on this tread and are looking forward presenting this cars magnificent story and hearing from you all and hopefully seeing you and the greatest car show in the world, MCACN in November 2019.

Stay tuned ……………..
