Default Trim Ring Question....14x7 2nd Design ?????

GM 475020 Gr 5.871 trim Ring This was what Im calling the 2nd design because it has
internal teeth biting the rim, whereas the 1st design had clips grabbing the outer edge of rim.

This was used on mid 70's 14x7 Camaro, Chevelle, Nova and even into the 80's on Buick's
and ?????

I have some NOS examples and Im wanting to know if these were POLISHED STAINLESS or
Chrome Plated Stainless....A small magnet does stick, so does that mean its chrome plating.

These NOS Rings have minor scuffing/marring....Ive already learned there is nothing you can to polish the scratches from chrome ?????

I vote for a single layer of chrome over stainless, just like moldings. In order to polish/repair moldings, you have to sand the chrome off before polishing. I bet the same is needed for trim rings. my .02.

Has anyone had success with removing minor marring/scratches on OEM Flash Chrome
using 0000 Bronze Wool and a non abrasive polish ????
