Default 1967 SS 427 Question

I'm not at all familiar with the late 60's Impala line. Looking into info for the '67 SS 427 has me confused, (not a tall task lol) so I'll just ask here..
Is the IE suffix on a 3904351 block considered one of the 2,124 ?? I didn't know if you could get a 427 in a Impala w/o it being a SS. Thanks for any information. PM is preferred. Dave

You could get the IE coded 427 in either an Impala SS or a SS427 Z24 car but I do not believe it was available in a standard Impala or any other model under that code, only the IH or II code. Don Bock can confirm.

You could get the 427/385 HP engine in any full size Chevrolet:

Biscayne, Bel Air, Impala, Impala SS, SS427 (std) and yes - station wagons.

Though they show ID and IK as 425 HP engines - they were never installed in any full size Chevrolet for the 1967 model year.
