Mike Hanson
I heard this morning that Mike Hanson passed away recently. Longtime highly knowledgeable Corvette guy from Westmont (suburban Chicago) area, moved to Florida years ago.
Bill S. might have more information....? RIP |

Sorry to hear this.
I heard this last week from another while at O'Reillys here in Westmont, but he wasn't sure if it was true or not. Thanks for confirming. |

Ironic timing as I was in downtown Downers Grove two weekends ago for a family event and as I drove by the old Classic Motors location on Main St. just north of the tracks I thought of him.

Mike was a great asset to the hobby and shared a lot of great info, pictures, etc with me over the years. RIP, he will be missed.
Below is his '68 Z that he drag raced with a cross ram and home-made hood scoop. He told me it's still around. I think a friend has it. |

Rest in Peace, Mike.
BTW, there was an exact duplicate of the Z shown above that lived in the same apartment complex that my sister did...in the late 70's-in Buena Park, Ca.. Same color...and engine call out.

----Mike was a very capable guy. He really knew his stuff, especially Corvette fuel injection. When he worked at Classic Motors I remember him diagnose a problem in a car 30 feet away, and I couldn't even hear the noise. I had a 63 red fuelie convert that he owned and it was probably the best running fuelie I ever drove. I think a fella from Coral Gables still owns it, but I'm not sure.....Bill S
