Joey - Phosphate finishes are fairly fragile and I would not suggest any kind of abrasive media if you want to preserve the original finish. If they were mine, I'd soak them in EvapoRust and check them every hour or so until they are just clean enough.

If they are too far gone you can have some fun and do it yourself. The solution is cheap. It is easy to do. A google search will get you a ton of info. I used to buy from Palmetto.

Scott does not have the Manganese, his supplier stopped making it and he hasn't found a source.

I just got a e-mail from Scott Owens @ Palmetto and he stated:
"I am currently out of the Manganese. I will have more of it next year. My supplier stopped making the manganese nitrate."

Shooters Solution is who I use for parkerizing solution. Their website is funky but give them a call.
Zinc Phosphate gives a more silver / Grey tone while Manganese Phosphate give a dark tone.
Temperature is critical, 195 to 200 is the sweet spot I shoot for.
Different hardness / carbon content steels will take color differently.

Joe,
Give Guy Amato a call he might be able to hook you up. He's in Maryland but not too far from you that you can't take a ride. Dave
