Default Engine

I purchased a car with this engine. Wondering if the car is still out there. Any help is appreciated.

Looks like a 67 Z/28 without smog.

Full vin would be 124377N189719 if I read that correctly.

I did an internet search with that vin and did not find anything.

Good friend of mine had his 67 Z/28 stolen around 1971. They took the engine out. He recovered the car, but never the engine. It was an exec car, and already had headers on it when he bought it in 68. There were dyno sheets in the glove box.

Insurance paid to put an engine out of a demolished 69 Z in his 67, but it never ran as good as the original motor.

Awesome story and thanks for the info. Curious what denotes "without smog". Im not too familiar with 67 Z28s.

All 68 and 69 U.S. model Z/28s had smog pumps (A.I.R.).

In 67, smog pumps were only required on the California sold vehicles.

68 all the Z motors were MO coded. 69 all were DZ.

In 67, the engines without smog pumps were coded MO.
With smog pump it would be coded MP.

Not in 1968 if one was delivered to Canada for sale. My '68 Norwood 'MO' car was KD1 smog exempt on the documentation from GM Canada..

That would have been in an early built 67z with that VIN.

Mid March car.
There was another V0307MO for sale on TC back in 2015. The assembly stamp exhibit the same characteristics.
