Mr70,you state there were 201 Canadian COPO Chevelles. What basis do you have for this info ? I think others may be interested in this as well to get closer to the total true COPO Chevelle numbers. How many total COPO Chevelles do you believe were produced outside of Yenko's ?

Bob
When I got the COPO Chevelle documented through George Zepora at Vintage Vehicle Services in Canada in 1999.On the title page with all the codes deciphered it states: 201 1969 Chevelles(Same model no.) exported from U.S.,no breakdown of COPO production.I would not venture to guesstimate on COPO production outside of Yenko.Noone seems to agree on this number.

Jeff
I wasn't to certain on the destination of the twin.Email me a picture of that sign,if you do find it.

When GM says that 201 Chevelles of that particular model were shipped from the US to Canada, they mean that that many 13637 models were shipped. This may or may not indicate the number of COPO cars sent. The documentation on our L78 car indicates that there were 2680 of that model sold in Canada. This means that there were that many 13437 300 Deluxe hardtops sold. Some obviously were SS396 but most weren't.
When we bought our COPO cars, one was orange with the M22, black vinyl bench seat and no gauges. While it was reportedly written off in the later '70s, I'm wondering if it might be still alive. It was sold new through Beare Motors in Port Perry, Ontario. The GM documentation would show this. Any help Jeff? The original owner would love to see it. I have a series of day one photos of the car.

BELAIR,
THERE WERE NO HI-PO BEAUMONTS IN 1969.
PREVIOUS TO THAT THE ONLY BEAUMONTS THAT WERE
HIGH PERFORMENCE WERE THE SD'S.(SPORT DELUXE)
THE S.D. CAME STANDARD WITH A 325 HP 396
AND AN OPTIONAL 350 HP. THEY WERE CALLED ECONOJETS. NO 375 HP WAS AVAILABLE. THATS AS HI-PO AS THE BEAUMONT GOT.

The Chevy powered full sized Pontiacs got the same drive trains as their equivalent
Chevys. How about a '66 L72 powered Pontiac Parisienne convertible. There was one around Oshawa back then.
